Quality System
Quality System & Standards
The standards, traceability and management arrangements that govern the work described on this site.

Overview
Calibration and repair of coordinate measuring machines, portable arms, gauge blocks, ring and plug gauges, and granite surface plates are performed by laboratories accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Documented procedures govern request review, method selection, result review and release, and a complaints and appeals process. Certificates are issued under the performing laboratory's accreditation scope.
Standards Referenced
Work described on this site is performed under ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
Accreditation named anywhere here is the performing laboratory's, and its limits are the limits of that laboratory's published scope. Measurements outside the scope are reported as non-accredited and identified on the certificate rather than quietly included. Each accreditation statement names the laboratory that holds it.
The documentation supplied with a quotation is outlined on the accreditation documentation page.

Metrological Traceability
Measurements are traceable to the SI through NIST. Each certificate states the reference standards used for the calibration and the reported measurement uncertainty for every parameter measured, not a single summary figure. Requests are checked against the accredited scope before a job is accepted, so the certificate issued reflects a method the laboratory is formally qualified to perform. Reference standards are themselves calibrated on a defined interval, with records maintained as part of the quality system.
The traceability statement belongs to the measurement, not to the building. On the certificate you will find the reference standard used, its calibration status at the time, and the chain by which it reaches the SI unit. Should that reference later fail its own calibration, the intervening work is reviewed and affected customers are contacted.
Equipment and Maintenance
Equipment covered includes bridge, gantry and cantilever coordinate measuring machines, portable articulated arms, granite surface plates, gauge blocks, and ring and plug gauges. Method selection accounts for the equipment's working envelope, probe configuration and intended use. Repair findings identified during calibration are documented and quoted separately before recalibration is performed. Results are reviewed before release, and any disputed finding is handled through the documented complaints and appeals process.
Reference equipment is uniquely identified, held under controlled conditions, and recalibrated on a defined interval that is shortened when drift data justifies it. Equipment that is damaged, overloaded, or shown to give suspect results is removed from service and labeled until it has been checked and returned to use in writing.
Management System
The work sits inside a documented management system:
- 01
Controlled documents
Procedures carry issue and revision status.
- 02
Retained records
Retained for a defined period and retrievable against a certificate number.
- 03
Audit and review
Internal audit and management review run on a schedule.
- 04
Corrective action
Nonconforming work and improvement actions are tracked to closure, and their effectiveness is checked afterwards.

Impartiality and Complaints
Risks to impartiality are identified and controlled, and results are reported on their merits regardless of the commercial outcome. Complaints and appeals are a formal input to that system โ the process, including the response commitment, is set out on the complaints policy page. How results should and should not be read is covered on the disclaimer page.
